Session description

The Hypothalamus (HT) is a complex small structure (1cm3) organized in independent multiple nuclei having specific roles in homeostatic regulation of energy, food intake, thirst but also temperature, sexual dimorphism, sleep and circadian rhythm. This session aims at presenting the recent advances brought by the combination of large cohort studies, translation of fundamental neurobiological knowledge and development of UHF 7T MRI to better characterize in vivo the alteration of HT associated to abnormal eating behavior such as anorexia nervosa and obesity. The program will be the following:

  • Introduction (5 min)
  • Presentation by Stephanie Brown (15 min) MRI exploration of hypothalamus in large cohorts to better understand cerebral substrate of eating disorders
  • Presentation by Alicia Sicardi (15 min) Hypothalamic Structural and Functional Imbalances in eating disorders
  • Presentation by Coleen Roger (15min) Added value of 7T MRI to study structural and functional alterations of individual hypothalamic nuclei in eating disorders
  • Questions and Answers (10 min)
